Slots Like Pirates’ Plenty: Four Voyages, Every Map Unlocked

Pirates’ Plenty The Sunken Treasure slot logo

Pirates’ Plenty is Red Tiger’s longest-running franchise, and its signature trick is a map: collect the pieces and something structural changes on the reels, an extra Treasure Reel, a hidden island row, a full Megaways upgrade. If you’re hunting for slots like Pirates’ Plenty, there are four official voyages between 2019 and 2025, and the newest one, a December 2025 sequel with the family’s biggest win ceiling, is missing from most round-ups. All four are below, charted against Red Tiger’s own pages.

Every Pirates’ Plenty game on one chart

The full fleet, with figures taken from redtiger.com’s own game pages on 12 July 2026. Worth knowing before you read any further: Red Tiger publishes a single RTP per game page, but independent reviewers list different operator builds for most of these titles, the in-game help screen at your casino is the only figure that binds.

Game Year Layout RTP (Red Tiger’s page) Max win
Pirates’ Plenty: The Sunken Treasure 2019 5×3, 20 lines + unlockable sixth Treasure Reel 95.70% 4,359x
Pirates’ Plenty: Battle for Gold 2019 5×4, 20 lines (30 with the Wild Island Row) 95.72% 5,501x
Pirates’ Plenty Megaways 2021 6 reels, up to 200,704 Megaways 97.65% 10,497x
Pirates’ Plenty: Treasures of the Seas 2025 5×3, 20 lines 96.20% 22,640x

Each release roughly doubled the ceiling of the one before it, 4,359x to 5,501x to 10,497x to 22,640x, while the map-collection idea stayed put. The 97.65% on the Megaways entry is Red Tiger’s own published figure and unusually generous; independent trackers more commonly list a 95.76% build, so treat that one as configuration-dependent.

Voyage by voyage

1. Pirates’ Plenty: The Sunken Treasure (2019)

Released 27 February 2019, the original sails a 5×3, 20-line grid with one big idea bolted to the side: land Map Piece scatters and you gradually unlock a sixth reel, the Treasure Reel, and Red Tiger’s own page is explicit that once unlocked, it stays unlocked. That permanent upgrade brings Mega Wild Ships into play alongside the standard Wild Ships, which carry x2, x3 and x5 multipliers. A Wild Monkey scampers through the base game removing every low-paying symbol so premiums land in their place, and three Ocean Spins symbols trigger ten free spins, where Treasure Chest keys open a chest holding extra wilds and additional spins. RTP is 95.70% on the studio’s page and the max win is 4,359x.

2. Pirates’ Plenty: Battle for Gold (2019)

The sequel followed just six months later, on 21 August 2019, swapping the ghost ship for Captain Blackbeard and adding a row: 5×4 rather than 5×3. The map mechanic returns with a different payoff, collected map symbols unlock the Wild Island Row, a hidden strip that adds ten more paylines (30 in total), extra wilds and multiplier combinations the studio credits with wins beyond 5,000x. Battle Spins are the free-spins round here, mixing locked wilds with FIRE! symbols and wild bombs, and the Wild Monkey keeps his symbol-stealing job. RTP barely moves at 95.72%, with the ceiling nudged up to 5,501x.

3. Pirates’ Plenty Megaways (2021)

After a two-year gap, Lady Anne Wild took the wheel on 21 April 2021, the franchise’s first female captain and its first game on Big Time Gaming’s licensed engine (the splash art carries the “under license from BTG” mark). The map habit survives the format change: collecting map symbols unlocks Wild Ways, growing the grid to a 6×7 monster with up to 200,704 Megaways, well beyond the engine’s usual 117,649, and one of the larger counts we cover on our Megaways guide. Lady Anne herself lands as an expanding wild worth up to 8x across the top of the middle four reels, and the Wild Monkey now locks in place as a sticky wild after clearing the low pays. Red Tiger’s page lists a 97.65% RTP and a 10,497x max win.

4. Pirates’ Plenty: Treasures of the Seas (2025)

Four and a half years of silence ended on 9 December 2025 (operators with early access had it from 2 December), when Captain Kidd hauled the series back to its original 5×3, 20-line shape, but with the family’s biggest ceiling at 22,640x. Wilds drop on reels 2 to 4 and every one locks in place, unlocking Treasure Chests, respins and multipliers as they accumulate; Kidd himself can appear to reset the respin counter. Collect all five chests and you claim Kidd’s Treasure, a prize the studio caps at 20,000x. RTP sits at 96.20%, the healthiest published figure in the family outside that eyebrow-raising Megaways build. A feature-buy option exists but is unavailable to UK players under the bonus-buy ban.

The maths: one strange number in the middle

What a hundred £1 spins costs at each game’s published RTP:

Game House edge £1 × 100 spins
The Sunken Treasure (95.70%) 4.30% £4.30
Battle for Gold (95.72%) 4.28% £4.28
Megaways (97.65%) 2.35% £2.35
Treasures of the Seas (96.20%) 3.80% £3.80

✓ Calculated from the RTPs on Red Tiger’s own game pages, checked 12 July 2026

Two things stand out. The 2019 pair sit under 96%, at the stingier end of what UK players typically accept, while the Megaways figure, if your casino actually runs the 97.65% build Red Tiger’s page lists, would be one of the best returns in the whole Megaways catalogue. That “if” matters: independent trackers commonly list 95.76% for the same game, a swing of nearly two full points, so check the paytable before assuming you’re getting the generous version. Treasures of the Seas’ feature buy is disabled for UK real-money play; our features hub covers how the bonus-buy ban reshapes games like this, and session tools live on our Responsible Gambling page.

History and legacy

The timing of the first game turned out to matter more than anyone knew in February 2019. Pirates’ Plenty launched as independent Red Tiger’s big swing at a flagship franchise, and within seven months the studio had been bought by NetEnt for £220m, with Battle for Gold arriving weeks before the deal closed. When Evolution swallowed NetEnt in December 2020, the family became an Evolution-group property, and the 2021 Megaways entry, built on a rival’s licensed engine, is the sort of crossover that only happens inside a group with that kind of reach. The persistent-unlock idea the original pioneered, where progress survives between sessions, went on to become a Red Tiger house trademark, and the studio kept the same bet range and map vocabulary across all four games. Red Tiger’s other long-running family, Dragon’s Luck, took the opposite route: same theme, no persistence.

Why the December 2025 revival matters

Four and a half years is a long gap for a live franchise, and Treasures of the Seas reads like a deliberate reset: back to 5×3, back to 20 lines, but with a ceiling four times the original’s. Most “slots like Pirates’ Plenty” lists were written before it existed, which is why so many still call this a three-game series.

Beyond the reels

The licensing picture changed with the corporate one. Red Tiger Gaming Limited no longer appears as a separate business on the UK Gambling Commission’s public register, we checked on 12 July 2026, with GB supply sitting within the Evolution group, whose Evolution Malta Holding Limited holds account 41655 and an active Gambling Software (Remote) licence dating back to 30 October 2015, with no regulatory actions recorded on that account.

What players say

The original’s Treasure Reel is the feature players remember, the “once unlocked, stays unlocked” hook gives the game an unusual reason to return to it specifically, and that stickiness comes up far more often than any individual win story. The Megaways entry divides opinion along predictable lines: people who want 200,704 ways love it, people who found the base game slow without the Wild Ways unlock drifted back to Battle for Gold’s cheaper-to-reach island row. Treasures of the Seas is still building a reputation, though the locked-wild respins and the visible five-chest progress bar are drawing the same “one more spin” comments the original’s map did in 2019.

Slots like Pirates’ Plenty outside the family

None of these are Red Tiger games, they are cross-studio alternatives sharing at least one of the family’s defining traits: a pirate theme, a collect-to-unlock mechanic, or a Megaways-style growing grid. Ranked by how much of the Pirates’ Plenty experience each one actually reproduces. The best Pirates’ Plenty slot for each kind of session

If you want… Play Why
The biggest ceiling in the family Treasures of the Seas 22,640x, four times the original’s, on the classic 5×3 shape
The map that never resets The Sunken Treasure The sixth Treasure Reel stays unlocked once you’ve earned it, per Red Tiger’s own page
Ways-count chaos Pirates’ Plenty Megaways Up to 200,704 Megaways, and possibly the family’s best RTP, if your casino runs the 97.65% build
A halfway house Battle for Gold An extra row, a 30-line unlock and Blackbeard, without leaving payline territory

Our verdict on Pirates’ Plenty

SlotsLike score: 7/10, the franchise that made persistent unlocks a Red Tiger trademark, still doing its one big idea better than the imitators.

Features 8/10, four different payoffs for the same map habit: a reel, a row, a ways upgrade and a chest ladder
Win potential 6/10, ceilings grew steadily to 22,640x, but nothing here chases the six-figure multipliers rival studios advertise
Design 7/10, a consistent, character-led look across six years, from the undead captain to Captain Kidd
Playability 7/10, the persistence hook genuinely rewards returning, though sub-96% RTPs on the 2019 pair cost it a point

Play here if the idea of progress that survives between sessions appeals more than raw volatility. Look elsewhere if you want modern six-figure ceilings, nothing in this fleet sails anywhere near them. More families to compare are on our series hub.
