Chaos Crew Series: Multipliers, Lives and Epic Drop

Hacksaw Gaming’s Chaos Crew series separates line wins from bonus reel multipliers. The original accumulates values through a lives-based feature, Chaos Crew 2 adds multiplier variants and Epic Drop, and Chaos Crew 3 adds Glitch Dogs and a CHAOS-spelling trigger. Compare what adds, what multiplies and what resets the lives counter.

All three Chaos Crew games at a glance
Compare line-win multiplication with collected reel values and refilling lives. These are different calculations, even when they use the same characters:
| Game | Year | Layout | RTP | Max win |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chaos Crew | 2020 | 5×5; supplier text says 15 lines, data box says 19 | 96.30% | 10,000x |
| Chaos Crew 2 | 2023 | 5×5, 19 paylines | 96.27% | 20,000x |
| Chaos Crew 3 | 2025 | Read installed line layout | Read installed setting | 30,000x supplier announcement |
The original’s current supplier page is internally inconsistent: its description says fifteen paylines and its Game Data box says nineteen. That is not an operator-versus-supplier disagreement. Read the installed original paytable before counting active lines. The sequel clearly lists nineteen. Their upper listed returns are 96.30% and 96.27%, with reduced configurations also identified. The third game’s current feature page does not supply a headline return here, so one should not be inferred from either predecessor.

Every game, reviewed
1. Chaos Crew (2020)

Original Chaos Crew separates its ordinary line wins from bonus collection. A Cranky Cat acts as a multiplier wild in a qualifying line, and multiple cats on that same win can multiply each other. In the bonus, cat and skull values are stored above the reels, with Epic symbols affecting the collected values. The feature ends on its three-strike counter and pays the collected total against the wager. A “strike” belongs to that feature’s rules; it should not be defined as any spin without an ordinary line win. The pictured original board identifies the characters and reel arrangement, rather than resolving the supplier’s inconsistent line count.

2. Chaos Crew 2 (2023)

Chaos Crew 2 retains a five-by-five, nineteen-line board and adds Epic Drop, which can reveal at least five multiplier symbols in a separate award event. Three scatters open the bonus with refilling lives and Regular, Sticky, Epic and Epic Sticky symbols. Four scatters open the Super Bonus, beginning with an Epic Drop of at least seven symbols. Its international Best of Bonus option runs three completed bonuses and awards the best result, not their sum. The published 20,000x cap is a limit, rather than a likely feature result or a guarantee from the extra entry option.
3. Chaos Crew 3 (2025)

Chaos Crew 3 adds a horizontal CHAOS-spelling trigger for Epic Drop, where Glitch Dogs transform into multiplier variants feeding reel values. Its three-scatter CTRL + ALT + CHAOS feature has refilling lives; four scatters open The Korrupted K9 with an area upgrade, and five open An Epic Glitch with a populated starting grid. Qualifying multiplier and dog arrivals refill lives, and the final reel values are added before being applied to the stake. The important change is the order of upgrades and collection, not simply another larger headline ceiling.

Return settings and full wagers
Theoretical expected loss per £100 wagered at the identified upper settings:
| Game | House edge | Per £100 wagered |
|---|---|---|
| Chaos Crew (96.30%) | 3.70% | £3.70 |
| Chaos Crew 2 (96.27%) | 3.73% | £3.73 |
Expected loss is calculated on total wagers, not a prediction for a session.
At 96.30%, £100 × 3.70% gives £3.70 theoretical expected loss. At the original’s listed 92.40% setting the equivalent is £7.60. This £3.90 configuration difference is much larger than the three-pence difference between Original’s and the sequel’s upper settings. Total wagers include reused winnings and extra stakes; they are not a forecast of a hundred-spin session. See the Responsible Gambling guide for limits and support.
A line product is different from a reel sum
Suppose two multiplier wilds of 2x and 3x both contribute to a qualifying £1 line award under a multiplying rule. Their product is 6x, giving £6. Adding them would give 5x and misread that rule. Now consider five collected reel values of 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x and 11x. Their sum is 28x; at a 50p wager, that is £14. Multiplying all five collected values together would describe a completely different award.
These deliberately simple examples separate two operations without claiming the actual symbols or amounts will arrive. Read the current phase, symbol type and credited win before choosing the calculation. A value above one reel is not automatically a wild affecting a base-game payline, and a multiplier cat on a line is not automatically a collected value belonging to every bonus reel.
Lives, upgrades and Best of Bonus
A lives counter follows its qualifying reset events. An ordinary line award is not necessarily a refill, and a special arrival can matter even when an ordinary line combination is absent. The sequel and third game identify their refilling symbol events; Original’s overview only says three strikes. Its installed help must define that counter precisely rather than borrowing a later title’s rules. Read the indicator after the symbols have resolved, not before the animation finishes.
An area upgrade changes eligible symbols before their values are collected. In an illustrative case where 2x and 4x values each receive an added 3x upgrade, their adjusted contributions would be 5x and 7x, totalling 12x. Applying 3x to the final sum would give 18x and use a different operation. This is an explanation of order, not a certified paytable example for every variant.
Best of Bonus also needs the right operation. If three hypothetical completed bonus results are 20x, 50x and 35x, the best is 50x, not the 105x sum. The cost of the option must be compared with that awarded result, including its own stake basis. “Three attempts” does not mean three paid awards or a guaranteed profit.
History and legacy
The original introduced Cranky and Sketchy in 2020. The supplier’s August 2025 schedule dates the third game to 25 September 2025. The 2023 sequel broadened the multiplier variants and added Epic Drop; the 2025 third game brought Glitch Dogs and the CHAOS-spelling trigger. The progression changes which event adds or modifies a reel value and how a feature begins. A shared punk setting is a family link, but a new trigger still needs its own explanation.
Why this family still matters
This family is a useful example of multiplication within a line versus addition across bonus reels. Two multiplier cats contributing to one line can behave differently from two values stored above separate reels. The SlotsLike archive groups the releases, but the actual calculation belongs to the named game and phase. The cat, skull or dog artwork alone cannot tell you whether its displayed number adds, multiplies or refills a counter.
Beyond the reels
Hacksaw’s site identifies HGMT’s British supplier status; the UK Gambling Commission provides public records. The operator’s authorisation remains separate from the studio’s identity or corporate ownership. Le Series offers another Hacksaw comparison with different symbols and bonus state. A worldwide feature-purchase listing also does not establish availability at a UK real-money casino.
Choose the collection and upgrade sequence
Choose Original for the earlier cat-and-skull collection, the sequel for its multiplier variants and Epic Drop, or the third game for Glitch Dogs, area upgrades and the spelling trigger. Read what refills lives and what changes the reel total before comparing feature names. These are rules-based distinctions rather than a survey of player favourites or a claim that one title gives longer sessions.
Caps and reported player payouts
Reports of a $12 million Trainwreck award need primary evidence of the result, stake and configuration. An arithmetic match between amount, stake and cap does not authenticate that result or establish the installed configuration. This guide does not present a streamer headline as an independently verified record. A documented reel-game limit and a credible primary player-payout record are different evidence, and neither establishes what an individual reader is likely to win.

Our verdict on Chaos Crew
Editorial assessment: follow which value adds, which multiplies and which arrival refills lives. The family has meaningful feature changes, but they should not be ranked by an unverified streamer award.
| Features | Line products and bonus reel sums are different calculations |
|---|---|
| Win potential | Compare the exact return setting and full wager |
| Design | Cranky, Sketchy and Glitch Dogs distinguish feature roles |
| Playability | A refill is not an ordinary line-win test or a session prediction |

Chaos Crew FAQs
Who makes Chaos Crew?
Hacksaw Gaming, a Malta-based studio holding MGA and UK Gambling Commission licences.
How many Chaos Crew games are there?
Three: Chaos Crew (2020), Chaos Crew 2 (2023) and Chaos Crew 3 (2025).
How many paylines does the original Chaos Crew have?
The current original supplier description says fifteen lines while its Game Data box says nineteen. Use the installed original paytable to resolve active lines; the inconsistency occurs within the same supplier page.
Which game has the biggest max win?
The supplier lists 10,000x for Original and 20,000x for Chaos Crew 2. Hacksaw’s own launch announcement lists 30,000x for the third game. Read the exact title, setting and stake unit rather than inferring its limit from a historical headline.
Is the $12 million Chaos Crew win verified?
This guide does not independently authenticate the reported $12 million streamer result. Matching a claimed amount to a cap by division is arithmetic, not primary evidence of the stake or payout.
What is the “Best of Bonus” feature in Chaos Crew 2?
The international Best of Bonus option runs three completed rounds of the corresponding bonus and awards the best one. It does not add all three results, and the option’s listed presence does not confirm UK operator availability.
What is new in Chaos Crew 3?
The third game adds the CHAOS-spelling Epic Drop, Glitch Dogs, refilling lives and scatter-tier upgrades. Its area upgrade changes qualifying symbols before they feed the reel multiplier; final reel values are then added and applied to the wager.
