Extra Chilli Slot Review, The Bonanza Follow-Up With a Gamble Wheel and Unlimited Free-Spins Multiplier
Extra Chilli runs an RTP of 96.15% to 96.41% base, up to 96.82% via Feature Drop (variable configs available at some operators, check before playing) on 6×3 with Up to 117,649 Megaways ways to win, from Big Time Gaming (Evolution). Extra Chilli sits alongside Eggspendables and Horn Of Plenty Spin16 for feel and features. Main features include free spins, wheel bonus, additional paylines, gamble feature, increasing multipliers, cascading wins and unlimited multiplier. Stakes start at £0.20 and go up to £40.00 a spin. Wins are rarer but can be large, so the balance tends to swing hard and patience helps.
Released in 2018, Extra Chilli was Big Time Gaming’s direct follow-up to Bonanza, so close in DNA that players nicknamed it “Bonanza 2”, and it added two ideas that became BTG staples: the Feature Drop bonus buy and the free-spins gamble wheel. Set on a Mexican market stall of peppers and produce, it pairs cascading reels with a progressive multiplier that never caps during the bonus. It is one of the defining Megaways titles of the streaming era, equal parts thrilling and brutal depending on which way the wheel lands.

Extra Chilli Pros and Cons
Reviewed by Paul StonePublished: September 2018 · Updated: July 2026
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| The free-spins multiplier rises by 1x on every cascade with no ceiling, so a single long chain of tumbling peppers can rocket toward the ~20,000x stake top win. | The gamble wheel is genuinely punishing, a bad spin can drop you into the bonus with just your base 8 free spins, or end the gamble entirely on zero. |
| The free-spins gamble wheel lets you risk your spins for up to 24, turning the trigger itself into a tense mini-game that no fixed-spin slot offers. | RTP swings widely by version: 96.15 to 96.41% in normal play and up to 96.82% only via Feature Drop, so the headline figure isn’t what most players actually get. |
| Feature Drop symbols can build up under the reels and cut the bonus-buy price spin by spin, land enough and the free spins trigger for free, a clever twist on the bonus buy. | The base game runs slowly and can go cold for long stretches; almost all the value is locked behind the free spins, so dead spells feel especially flat. |
| The HOT scatter only needs three to land for 8 spins, with +4 for each extra and re-triggers from chilli bowls during the round, so the bonus can extend itself. | The Feature Drop bonus buy is disabled or restricted in several jurisdictions including the UK, so not every player can access the fastest route in. |
How Extra Chilli Works
Extra Chilli runs on six reels that each show 2 to 7 symbols per spin, plus a horizontal reel beneath the main grid feeding the four centre reels, the combination producing up to 117,649 Megaways. Wins are formed by matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left. Every win triggers a cascade (or “reaction”): the winning symbols vanish, new ones tumble down, and the chain continues until no fresh win lands. Slots like Extra Chilli are built on those reactions, and here each one matters double because of how the bonus multiplier behaves.
Symbols and Paytable
The premium symbols are the market-stall peppers and produce, with the 10-through-A royals at the low end. The wild substitutes for all paying symbols, and the letters H, O and T act as the scatters, three of them anywhere in view open the free spins. There is no fixed line count; pay value comes from symbol matches across the variable grid, so a fully expanded board offers far more winning shapes than a thin one.
The Gamble Wheel and Feature Drop
Three HOT scatters award 8 free spins, with four more for each additional scatter. Before the round starts you can step onto the gamble wheel: each successful spin adds 4 free spins and lets you gamble again, up to a maximum of 24 spins, while a losing spin drops you to the number shown in black, which can be zero. That risk-it-or-bank-it decision is Extra Chilli’s signature moment, and it splits players sharply: euphoric when it works, gutting when it doesn’t. The Feature Drop is the other headline, special symbols accumulate under the reels and steadily lower the bonus-buy price; collect enough and the free spins trigger at no cost, otherwise you can buy in directly (around 50x bet, where permitted). Big Time Gaming’s own game page confirms the odds behind that risk: the first gamble is a straight 50/50 shot, later gambles tilt to roughly 60/40 in your favour, and your spin count locks in once you reach the second-to-last stage, so the tension eases slightly the further you push.
The Unlimited Free-Spins Multiplier
Inside the free spins the win multiplier increases by 1x on every cascade, and crucially it never resets and has no cap for the duration of the round. A run of consecutive reactions can push it into the dozens, which is exactly how Extra Chilli reaches its big-win territory. Chilli bowls below the play area re-trigger the feature, three or four of them add 4 or 8 more spins, and each re-trigger offers another gamble. It is the same unbounded-multiplier engine that made Bonanza famous, which is why games like Extra Chilli are judged on how long a single hot bonus can run.
Games like Extra Chilli
If you enjoy slots like Extra Chilli for the cascades and bonus-gamble tension, the closest theme-and-feature matches on SlotsLike are Sizzling Spins, Eggspendables, Horn Of Plenty Spin16 and Donuts, though for the truest like-for-like, BTG’s own Bonanza further down this page is the obvious sibling.
Sizzling Spins leans into a Fruit theme. The reels form a 5 reel, 3 row layout offering 1024 ways to win, so there are lots of winning combinations on offer. It plays at high volatility, which means bigger wins arrive less frequently, so expect some swing in your balance across a session. On the bonus side you get free spins, no win respins, sticky wilds and increasing multipliers. Specific touches include reelset changing, respin locking win and rtp range. It returns 94.48%, which is medium-low for the market. In practice that means the game pays back around that share of stakes over a long run of spins, not in any single session. Stakes run from 0.2 up to 100 a spin, so it suits both small and larger budgets. It is frequently grouped with Juice N Fruits. It sits close to Extra Chilli in feel, making it a natural follow-on.
Eggspendables comes from Inspired Gaming. You spin a 5-reel, 4-row grid with 20 paylines in play. It returns 96.80% and counts as high overall. That figure is a long-term average rather than something to expect back each session. Expect low volatility here, so frequent low-value wins make for a gentle, lower-risk session. Stakes run from 0.2 up to 200 a spin, so it suits both small and larger budgets. Headline features include free spins, no win respins and increasing multipliers. In play that shows up as awards bonus, sergeant bonus, lieutenant bonus and general bonus. It is frequently grouped with Peperami. Fans of Extra Chilli should find plenty to like here.
Horn Of Plenty Spin16 is a Farming slot from Genii. The reels form a 5-reel, 3-row layout offering 50 paylines. Return to player sits at 94.99%, which is medium-low for the market. That figure is a long-term average rather than something to expect back each session. You can bet from 0.01 to 50 per spin, leaving room for cautious and bigger play alike. On the bonus side you get increasing multipliers. In play that shows up as multiplier match game. Volatility is medium-low, so wins land fairly regularly and tend to be modest, which keeps sessions steady. Fans often line it up alongside Don Juans Peppers and Sunny Scoops. If you liked Extra Chilli, Horn Of Plenty Spin16 is an easy one to try next.
Developed by Big Time Gaming, Donuts carries a America theme. You spin a 4 reel, 4 row grid with 2401 paylines in play, giving plenty of ways for symbols to line up. Headline features include increasing multipliers. You can bet from 0.05 to 20 per spin, leaving room for cautious and bigger play alike. It returns 96.54%, which is high for the market. Over thousands of spins that points to roughly that return, though a single visit can land well above or below it. It plays at medium volatility, which means you get a balanced pace, with wins that are neither tiny nor rare. It is frequently grouped with So Much Sushi. If you liked Extra Chilli, Donuts is an easy one to try next.
Sizzling Spins: A Play’n GO high-volatility slot over 5 reels and 1,024 ways, with respin locks, multipliers and a fruit-fire theme. It shares Extra Chilli’s spicy look and big-swing feel, but trades the gamble wheel for sticky respins.
Eggspendables: An Inspired Gaming food-and-comedy slot over 5 reels and 20 paylines with layered pick bonuses and respins. It is far lower-variance than Extra Chilli, so it suits players who like the food theme but want gentler, steadier play.
Horn Of Plenty Spin16: A Genii food-and-farming slot using the Spin16 directional mechanic over 50 paylines, with an increasing multiplier in the bonus. The escalating multiplier echoes Extra Chilli’s, though the overall risk sits well below it.
Donuts: A Big Time Gaming food slot on a 4×4, 2,401-way grid with a capped 4x multiplier round. It is the studio’s lighter, more relaxed take, same developer DNA as Extra Chilli but without the unlimited multiplier or gamble wheel.
Extra Chilli slot critic’s reviews
SuperCasinoSites.com: We highly recommend you try Big Time Gaming’s Extra Chilli, even more so if you dig some of the other releases from the Megaways series. Not only is this game very entertaining but it can be very rewarding due to its unique payout and reel-grid structure.
MrBetGames.com: Extra Chilli slot breaks stereotypes and makes believe in miracles. Gamblers love it for first-class graphics, non-trivial themes, exciting gameplay and fantastic payout ratios.
VegasSlotsOnline.com: We quite enjoyed reviewing the Extra Chilli slot machine. Big Time Gaming have created the perfect combination of entertainment and wins with an RTP which goes up to 96.82%, high volatility and 117,649 Megaways to win. Collect scatters or use the Feature Drop to get to the free spins round, where you’ll get an unlimited win multiplier. Trigger reactions for more chances to win, and much more.
CasinoBloke.com: There are plenty of similarities between Extra Chilli and Bonanza, which is why lots of gamers are referring to the latest Big Time Gaming title as Bonanza 2.
BigwinBoard.com: Extra Chilli is a phenomenal follow-up to Bonanza that all fans of Megaways will enjoy. The addition of the gamble wheel make it a real roller-coaster ride.
Those are pull-quotes from other slot-review outlets, not an independent panel SlotsLike convened, so treat the enthusiasm above as industry chatter rather than gospel. Our own honest take, after going through the mechanics again in July 2026: Extra Chilli earns its reputation as one of the defining early Megaways titles, but the slow base game and the all-or-nothing gamble wheel mean it suits a patient player with a healthy bankroll far more than it suits anyone chasing quick, frequent wins.

Extra Chilli FAQs
What is the Extra Chilli RTP and why does it vary?
In normal play the RTP runs 96.15 to 96.41%, rising to as much as 96.82% when you use the Feature Drop bonus buy. Operators can also run lower configurable versions, so always check the in-game help before playing.
What is the maximum win on Extra Chilli?
The top win is commonly quoted at around 20,000x your stake, reached through the unlimited multiplier during free spins and long cascade chains. It is rare, it needs the multiplier to climb well into the dozens.
How does the gamble wheel in Extra Chilli work?
After three HOT scatters award 8 free spins, you can spin a gamble wheel: each win adds 4 spins and lets you gamble again, up to 24 spins total. A losing spin drops you to the number shown in black, which can be zero.
What is the Feature Drop in Extra Chilli?
Feature Drop is Big Time Gaming’s bonus buy. Special symbols build up under the reels and lower the buy-in price each spin; collect enough and the bonus triggers free, or you can buy in directly for around 50x bet where permitted.
Does the free-spins multiplier in Extra Chilli have a cap?
No. During the free spins the win multiplier rises by 1x on every cascade and does not reset for the whole round, with no upper limit. That uncapped multiplier is the main engine behind the slot’s biggest wins.
Is Extra Chilli basically Bonanza 2?
It is the closest thing to it. Extra Chilli is Big Time Gaming’s 2018 follow-up to Bonanza, sharing the cascading Megaways engine and unlimited multiplier, but adding the gamble wheel and Feature Drop, which is why players nicknamed it Bonanza 2.
What slots are like Extra Chilli?
The obvious sibling is Bonanza, with Donuts and the wider Big Time Gaming Megaways range close behind. For more games like Extra Chilli with cascading reels and a climbing multiplier, look to other Megaways titles that use the same uncapped-multiplier idea.
Our Verdict on Extra Chilli
Extra Chilli is one of the genre-defining Megaways slots, and it earns the reputation: the uncapped free-spins multiplier and the gamble wheel give it a risk-reward edge most cascade slots can’t match. It is for high-variance players who relish the bonus-trigger gamble and don’t mind a slow base game, not for anyone who wants steady, frequent wins. If you like slots like Extra Chilli, its parent Bonanza is the natural next step, and the wider Big Time Gaming Megaways range matches the maths. A roller-coaster that’s brilliant when it lands and brutal when it doesn’t. Responsible gambling: the gamble wheel is built to tempt, set limits and stick to them. 18+, please gamble responsibly (BeGambleAware.org).
