The setup is straightforward enough. Mr Beastwood is a retired sea bandit who has swapped piracy for monster hunting, and he works the forests that share his name with a golden harpoon and a length of gold chain. The base game plays out inside his trophy room, a cluttered study with a fireplace burning at one side and mounted heads on the walls, while the free spins move outside into a night-time swamp where eyes glint from behind the trees. It is a good-looking game in the way most Quickspin titles are, and the sound design keeps the fussiness down.
Each spin begins with three reels standing four symbols high, which works out at 64 ways. Land a win and the symbols involved are chained in place, a fourth reel scrolls in from the right, and everything spins again. If the new reel improves the win the sequence carries on and a fifth reel appears, then a sixth, and so on. The moment a new reel fails to add to the win the sequence stops and pays. Expanding Ways
This is the engine, and everything else hangs off it. Winning symbols lock, a new reel scrolls in, and the evaluation runs again on the wider board. The rule that matters is the improvement test: the added reel has to make the win bigger, not merely fail to break it. That is what stops a run continuing forever on a couple of low-value card tiles and it is why sequences tend to die at four or five reels rather than trailing off gradually.
Symbol Win Multipliers and Reel Multipliers
Two separate multipliers are at work and it is easy to confuse them. The Symbol Win Multiplier belongs to each individual symbol and climbs as more of that symbol lands on the same reel during a sequence, so a monster that keeps turning up in stacks is worth progressively more each time the board is re-evaluated.
